Modern Care Journal uses a double-anonymized (double-blind) peer-review process for scholarly manuscripts. Author and reviewer identities are concealed from one another during the review process to the extent reasonably possible.
Manuscripts first undergo an editorial screening for scope, basic methodological and ethical suitability, originality, completeness, and compliance with journal requirements. Manuscripts that pass initial screening are normally sent for external peer review. Full scholarly manuscripts will normally be evaluated by at least three independent reviewers, subject to the journal's applicable article-specific procedures. Editorials and Letters to the Editor may be assessed editorially without external review where appropriate.
Reviewers are selected by the responsible editor based on relevant subject expertise, methodological competence, independence, and absence of significant conflicts of interest. Reviewer suggestions made by authors do not guarantee selection and are independently evaluated by the editorial team.
Reviewers must:
maintain strict confidentiality regarding manuscripts and associated materials;
provide objective, constructive, evidence-based assessments;
disclose relevant conflicts of interest;
avoid using unpublished information for personal or professional benefit;
identify potential ethical or methodological concerns;
notify the editor if they suspect plagiarism, fabrication, falsification, duplicate publication, or other misconduct; and
complete reviews within the requested timeframe or decline promptly when they cannot do so.
Review materials and unpublished manuscript information are confidential. Reviewers must not share manuscripts or use generative AI or other external systems to process confidential manuscript content when confidentiality cannot be assured.
Additional methodological, statistical, or subject-specific reviewers may be consulted when required.
The Editor-in-Chief has final responsibility for editorial decisions. Decisions may take into account reviewer recommendations, but reviewers do not determine acceptance or rejection. The Editor-in-Chief or delegated editor evaluates the complete record and makes the final editorial decision.
Manuscripts submitted by editors or editorial board members are handled by an independent editor, and the submitting editor has no role in reviewer selection or editorial decision-making.
